A shared platform can make it easier to operate across environments. Running OpenShift on premises and in the cloud, however, does not by itself resolve the decisions that make hybrid architecture viable.
The application is larger than its container
Data, identities, integrations, security policies and service dependencies still determine where an application can operate. Moving its runtime is only part of the journey. The business capability must keep working with those dependencies and with the reliability the operation requires.
Starting with the requirement changes the conversation
Portability and multicloud have costs. They make sense when a requirement justifies the complexity: continuity, regulation, data placement or an actual business need. The decision sequence starts with the business problem, moves through architectural requirements and capabilities, and only then reaches technology.
